Cases FAQ
Q: How is the Portfolio Case shipped?
A: The portfolio cases are shipped folded via UPS.
The cases are soft-sided. The case is made rigid
through the use of foam core, gator board, masonite,
sheet metal, your choice of material.
Q: What is the Portfolio Case made of?
A: All TRANZPORTER products are made of 1000 denier
Cordura® nylon that does not rip or tear. A waterproofing
sealant is used on the back of the material. The
soft-sided case has two layers of Cordura to insert
your material for added rigidity and protection.
Q: What is the size of the gusset?
A: The gusset is approximately 5" to 6” in
width. This enables the case to hold about 20 pieces
of 1/4" foamcore boards, several stretched canvases,
2 to 3 framed paintings or 2 to 3 presentation sleeves
with frame samples. The gusset board inserted in the
base provides a supportive, sturdy bottom.
Q: How does the TRANZPORTER Case hold up in
rain or snow?
A: Rain and snow tend to bead up and run off the fabric.
A rain flap over the zipper to secure it even further
from the elements. The only recommendation would be
not to set the case down in a puddle of water.
Q: How is the case constructed?
A: The craftsmanship and detailing are superior. These
products are manufactured in the USA and guaranteed
for their quality. We will replace any bag for manufacturer
defects.
Q: How do you carry your TRANZPORTER Case?
A: The case has a detachable shoulder strap that fits
into a side pocket for easy airline travel. The larger
cases have two side handles to accommodate arm-length
and a top handle to help distribute the weight of
the case. When the case gets too heavy, there is
an optional wheel set available for an additional
cost.
Q: Where can I store paperwork when using
my TRANZPORTER Case?
A: The case has an exterior side pocket which can accommodate
legal-sized documents, notebooks, keys, etc.
Q: How do you secure items in a TRANZPORTER
case?
A: The hook-and-loop (Velcro) straps on the inside
of the case help to gently secure the materials and
separate items. The optional presentation sleeve can
be inserted between framed or stretched pieces or artwork
as an additional layer of protection. Also, the detachable
shoulder strap can be used to set the case up as a
bin to use for easier presentations to clients.
Q: Will the airlines accept these cases as
carry-ons or as checked luggage?
A: Each airline has different restrictions now. We
suggest that you call your airlines for specific requirements
and additional fees.
Q: How are your items being protected inside
the case?
A: Because the cases are delivered folded, an insert
is needed to protect work. Our company uses foamcore
because it is lightweight, however gatorboard, thicker
foamcore, masonite, or sheet metal may also be used.
Q: How do the wheels attach to the case?
A: The cases have four (4) hook-and-loop straps sewn
on the bottom of the case. Two wheels are needed
which fit snugly through the straps and around the
base of the case. The front wheel swivels and is
directional, the rear wheel is fixed. The wheel is
almost totally hidden under the case providing a
solid base yet does not protrude to catch a shoe
while walking. The top handle and the detachable
shoulder strap help to steer the case. When the wheels
are not needed, they may be stored in the side pocket
of the case.
Q: What are the wheels made of?
A: The wheels are made of a black powder coated metal
with two rubber wheels. They can withstand at least
45 to 60 lbs. of weight. It is imperative that the
wheels are removed before checking a TRANZPORTER
through as airline baggage.
Q: What color is the TRANZPORTER?
A: Basic black is the color choice for all of our bags
and tubes.
Q: How can I clean a TRANZPORTER Case?
A: It is very easy to keep clean. Most dirt just rubs
off with a damp cloth or use the rubber grip on the
detachable strap to brush away dirt.
Q: What size portfolio case should be used to carry A0 boards?
A: A0 paper is comparable to US size 33x47 inches, therefore the 36x48" portfolio case would be suitable. A1 paper is comparable to US size 24x33 inches, therefore the 24x36" portfolio case would be the right size. A2 paper is comparable to US size 17x24 inches, therefore the 18x24" portfolio case would be suitable.
What size tube should be used to carry A0 paper?
A: A0 paper is comparable in size to US 33x47 inches. The paper must be rolled to fit into the Tranzporter tubes. Depending on which direction the paper is rolled, it would fit into the 6x42", 8x42", or 8x48" tube. A1 paper can be rolled to fit into the 6x32", 6x42", or 8x42" tube.
Q: Is monogramming available?
A: Yes. The monogramming offered is embroidered on
the pocket. Thread color is white. Logos can be embroidered
on the pocket - there will be a set-up fee as well
as a monogramming fee. Please call to make arrangements
if this is required.

Presentation
Sleeves FAQ
Q: What is the presentation sleeve made of?
A: The presentation sleeve is made of Veltex®,
the felted material that hook-and-loop will adhere
to. This item ships folded up and is constructed like
a pillow case. A board or piece of foamcore is inserted
into the sleeve to make it rigid.
Q: What is the presentation sleeve used for?
A: Frame samples with hook-and-loop may be adhered
to the sleeve, making it easy to take samples for
presentations. It also works to lean a piece of artwork
on the sleeve and place frame samples around the
work to show the differences in frames. The sleeve
may be used as a separator between pieces of framed/unframed
artwork.
Q: How many presentation sleeves can fit into
a Portfolio Case?
A: Two or three sleeves with frame samples can fit
into a case. If the sleeves are used as artwork protectors/separators,
several sleeves will fit into the portfolio case.
Q: How do I make the sleeve rigid?
A: Foamcore slips easily into the presentation sleeve
making a rigid and sturdy backdrop for frame samples
and artwork.
Q: How do you take samples on an appointment
when showing artwork?
A: You can take them all in one case. Take a presentation
sleeve with samples attached to one side of the sleeve
and strap it inside the case with the frames against
the case. Place the artwork on the other side of the
case. The presentation sleeve will then protect your
artwork.
Q: As a framing representative, I may need
to carry many sleeves with samples. Will the case
be too heavy?
A: Add wheels to your portfolio case to take the weight
off your shoulders. It just
glides along.
